For the past 25 months, the prevailing theme in the
Southeastern Conference has been Alabama and Florida on one level and everyone
else down below. After the Beatdown in T-Town, the upper echelon has been cut in
half. It's Alabama alone, and everyone else down below. This is a one-team
league at the top. In fact, this is a one-team nation...

Being young no excuse for Alabama's 'D'
Mark Ingram knows that look. More precisely, he knows what a
group of guys look like when they’re playing with a certain object on their
collective shoulders. “They’re playing with a chip on their shoulder,” Alabama’s
Heisman Trophy running back said of his defense. “I’ve had the utmost confidence
in them. They have great athletes and great playmakers. Just because they lost
nine players doesn’t mean that they’re not a great defense. “They came out here
with a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove everybody wrong.” Nobody’s
going to mistake this Alabama defense for the one that choked the life out of
everything in its sight a year ago...

Inexperienced? Alabama leads nation in scoring defense
Top-ranked Alabama now stands atop one of the nation's most
significant statistical categories. Beyond its 5-0 record and their No. 1
ranking, the Crimson Tide defense, once labeled inexperienced and vulnerable,
leads the country in scoring defense. Call the Tide stingy. They have limited
opponents to an average of just nine points per game...

One play defines Alabama's dominant win over Florida
That's all it took to accurately gauge that Urban Meyer's
hubris level remains in the red. And that Trey Burton is not quite Tim Tebow. It
also might be all it takes to define a season. Alabama's, of course. So many
things went right during the first half of the top-ranked Crimson Tide's 31-6
dismantling of No. 7 Florida on Saturday night...

Alabama Recruiting: Barry Sanders Jr. interested in Crimson
Tide
Now that Alabama has its first Heisman Trophy winner, it may
be time for another first: the son of a Heisman winner. One of the top players
in the country for the Class of 2012 is Oklahoma City running back Barry Sanders
Jr. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back is strongly considering Oklahoma State, where
his father was the country's top player, but he said last week that Alabama is
among his top four, along with UCLA and Florida State...read

Scarbinsky: All else being equal, Alabama and Florida aren't
an we stop it now? Can we put an end to all that crazy talk
about Alabama and Florida as rivals, as equals, as co-Southeastern Conference
superpowers? They're not rivals, they're not equals and they're not friends, and
the next time the schedule sends Urban Meyer to Bryant-Denny Stadium, his own
personal house of horrors...

Nick Saban postgame press conference, player interviews
after the Florida game
A roaring pregame flyover barely rattled heads when compared
to the overwhelming sights and sounds top-ranked Alabama created Saturday night.
Seventh-ranked Florida got caught in the jet wash, its offense in a tailspin in
front of 101,821 at Bryant-Denny Stadium...

Alabama coach Nick Saban has worried about a lack of energy
and intensity in stretches of past games this season. Saturday, that fire was
there. "I was very pleased with the passion and intensity we played with in the
first half," he said. "I was very encouraged by all of that, and I just think
you have to do that for 60 minutes in a game. We just have to focus on doing
that all of the time. Not just some of the time, but all of the time."...

One last thing from Bryant-Denny: Alabama's only SEC
challenger may be Auburn
You'll read a lot more about Alabama 31, Florida 6 in my
Sunday column, but let's take a late-night look at the big picture before I pack
up and leave the press box. Consider what happened Saturday. 4Share 75 Comments
Alabama dominated Florida for the second straight year. If the Gators get their
act together and win the Eastern Division again, they might want to decline the
invitation to the SEC Championship Game and start prepping for the Capital One
Bowl...

Tide's defense makes a case for redemption, domination
A week ago, the Alabama defense was on trial. Witnesses
testified that youth, inexperience and injuries were taking a toll. On Saturday
night at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the prosecution was overwhelmed. The top-ranked
Crimson Tide stepped up against No. 7 Florida...

Happy Birthday To Coach Paul Bear Bryant: Alabama Destroys
Penn St 24-3
If legendary Alabama head coach Bear Bryant was alive for his
97th birthday, what would he want? I bet you a win against Joe Paterno who
replaced him as the all time wins leader in NCAA history would be high on the
list. Paul Bryant...

Defense Comes Up Big
Devon Smith only need four words to sum up Alabama’s defense.
“They were really physical,” the Penn State wide receiver said following a 24-3

College Football 2010: Alabama-Penn State Analysis
Alabama’s Chase for 14 began in earnest on Saturday, and it
got off to a rousing start, with the Tide throttling a traditional power and Top
20 team in Tuscaloosa. My predicted final score of 31-16 turned out to be way
off, but my overall impressions of the game proved correct. Penn State was able
to create several explosive plays by picking on the inexperienced defense, but
barely managed a sniff of the end zone. Worse, instead of settling for field
goals, they suffered 3 costly turnovers inside the 20 yard line...

Alabama - Penn State rivalry has produced classic moments
Barrett Jones was 5 months, 2 days old the last time Alabama and Penn State
played.
He doesn't remember the game, but the top-ranked Crimson Tide's guard has
become fairly well versed on a rivalry that has featured memorable kicks, great
defenses and a goal line stand that is a significant part of 'Bama lore.
"I can't speak for everybody on the team, but I really feel like I appreciate
the history of the game," said Jones, born on May 25, 1990...

Alabama Crimson Tide Keys To Victory Over Penn State

inexperienced talent on defense with a few well positioned defensive leaders....
